JBLM Family Investigation Planning
Deployment, training and a move can change a child's routine quickly. For families around Joint Base Lewis-McChord, careful dates and authorized records can help separate temporary arrangements from what actually happened. Installation access and protected information remain important limits.

Before you rely on a rule or form
Use the current court instructions and the order in your own case. These notes explain factual preparation, not legal advice or a promise that evidence will be admitted. Check dated rule and form references with the official source before relying on them.
Care, Duty Schedules and Access
Prepare for a Tacoma-area family assignment
Identify the civilian court and case number, the disputed dates and the locations where care or exchanges occurred. Tell us when your attorney needs the findings. We can document family events; counsel handles the effect of military service on court procedure.
Share only the scheduling information you are authorized to provide. We need the family-related dates and constraints, not protected operational information. Military status alone does not resolve custody or another family-law question.
Check the applicable Pierce County instructions
Pierce County publishes family-law forms and instructions for matters filed in the county. Check the current local instructions alongside the statewide forms and ask counsel which requirements apply. An investigation does not select your motion, replace a required filing or guarantee acceptance of evidence.
Bring authorized records of the schedule changes
Provide the relevant parenting order, temporary arrangements and original messages you may lawfully share. List the local locations, time windows and access restrictions, distinguishing a confirmed address from a lead. Do not send protected operational information to explain a family scheduling issue.
Documenting Care Around JBLM Duty Schedules
Deployment, field exercises and PCS moves can change where a child stays, who provides care and how exchanges take place. Bring the current parenting plan, relevant duty or move dates you may lawfully share, and the actual residence and exchange information. Separate what was ordered, what was arranged temporarily and what occurred.
Available records, firsthand witnesses and lawful observations around Tacoma, Lakewood and nearby communities may help verify caregivers, school routines and exchanges. A military mailing address does not by itself establish the child's daily living arrangement, and observations cover only the periods actually checked.
We do not promise access to JBLM or restricted housing. Any proposed on-base activity must meet installation access and service requirements. Qualified civilian or military professionals advise on SCRA protections, military pay or pension questions, command procedures and changes to parenting orders; our role is factual investigation within the agreed lawful scope.
Can a PI help during a deployment custody dispute?
Yes. We can document temporary care arrangements, the child’s routine and specific events during deployment. The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) provides certain protections, which counsel should assess for your case; it does not itself prevent lawful evidence gathering.
Do you work with military families at Joint Base Lewis-McChord?
Yes. JBLM and the surrounding Pierce County communities, schools and housing areas are within our primary coverage area. We confirm the specific locations and access limits before scheduling; local coverage does not grant permission to enter the installation.
